What is Acupuncture Detoxification Therapy?
Acupuncture detoxification therapy involves the application of five acupuncture needles to designated areas of the ear for the purposes of reducing stress, managing anger and addressing cravings and withdrawal symptoms from chemical dependencies. It is based on the practice of acupuncture which is a component of the ancient system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Acupuncture, just like Reiki, is premised on the belief that living beings are animated by a vital life force called qi that circulates through twelve energy lines in the body known as the meridians. Any imbalances in the flow of qi is said to be the ultimate source of disease in the body. Acupuncture is the practice of inserting fine, sterile needles into specific points along the meridian lines for the purpose of restoring the natural flow of qi. Modern research has validated acupuncture’s beneficial effects on the cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, immune and nervous systems and it is now a widely accepted treatment for a range of conditions.
While different people respond differently to acupuncture treatments, the majority feel little to no pain when the needles are inserted. During the course of the treatment, patients may feel warm or tingling sensations as well as a sense of calm and relaxation. Other benefits of acupuncture include feeling more relaxed, having better energy, having less pain, having less anxiety, sleeping more soundly, having an increased appetite and healing faster.
Acupuncture detoxification treatments are combined with Reiki sessions and are scheduled by appointment. When these two treatments are combined, physical conditions and emotional imbalances are addressed more effectively. More than one session may be required depending on the particular condition being addressed.
